Tripod Mount for the P-Sharan (Improved Version)

A few days ago I did some improvements on the tripod mount I built for my P-Sharan cardboard, pinhole camera. Here’s how it looks now:

Unlike with the previous version of my homemade mount, with this one the P-Sharan can stand on its own:

The new version is basically the addition of two "feet" to the bottom of the camera on both sides of the piece that holds the 1/4" nut where the tripod can be attached. The trick is to make these two pieces taller than the central one, so that the camera stands on them and and not on the nut.

Leaving a little bit of space between the bottom pieces is essential because otherwise the rubber bands would touch the ground when the camera is standing up and that would make it somewhat unstable.

I also gave it a coat of black acrylic paint to make it look a little bit better. Here’s a look from the bottom:

As with the other one, I just glued several layers of cardboard together until I got the desired thickness for the pieces I wanted to build. For the feet of the camera, I used 5 layers of cardboard instead of the 4 I had used for the central piece. It is was just a coincidence that one extra layer of cardboard amounted to almost exactly the thickness of the bottom of the 1/4″ nut that protrudes out of the central piece and so, with the camera standing up, the nut doesn’t touch the ground by a split hair.
